HABITAT FOR HUMANITY
Project Description
For this project we were designing a house that could be used for Habitat for Humanity. We had to follow the organizations constraints and the constraints of the family. The three bedroom house could only have 1070 square feet. It was required that our design included the three bedrooms, storage, 1.5 bathrooms, a kitchen, a living room, a dining room, and a laundry room. The organization also required a 5 foot diameter circle in both the kitchen and bathroom to accommodate anyone with disability. All hallways and doorways had to be certain widths. The family wanted a deck and enough space to accommodate their life. Our designs also include green features like Energy Star appliances and solar orientated windows. Our goal was to create the best possible house within the constraints, while maintaining code.

Conclusion
1. Site planning was a job I did not fully realize existed. There is a lot more that goes into a single house than I had previously thought. I would be interested in a career related to residential design. I found the interior design aspect the most enjoyable, as well as the layout design.
2. We did not evaluate or test our design. This could determine if our house is suitable for the buyers or for anyone in general.
3. If our house was built in an area that receives very large amounts of snow the house would need a different, possibly steeper, roof to prevent snow buildup. The house might also need a more efficient heating method, such as a fire place.
